# Luna vs ChatGPT Dots: From Personal Agent to Business Operator

*Choose Luna when the goal is a managed business operation across five lanes, with shipped skills, supported models matched to tasks and connections built around your systems.*

> Luna gives your business supplied playbooks, flexible AI models and a human team to build and manage the operation. Compare that package with ChatGPT Dots.

For a business owner who wants the phone, inbox, meetings and community handled as a connected operation, Luna is the stronger fit. We supply the business playbooks and work with you to design the identity, connect the systems, train the operator and manage the work.

ChatGPT Dots are useful persistent agents. Luna is the business service you choose when you want those operating responsibilities built around you, with a human team helping you get the result.

Gary Club sells Luna. This is our assessment for that use case, based on official documentation reviewed October 14, 2026. We have not run a comparative performance benchmark.

## Start with the jobs your business already needs

For a creator launching a course, the operating work crosses sales, marketing, community, customer service and executive assistance. Someone needs to prepare the outreach, answer questions from the approved offer, follow through after meetings and keep track of what was promised.

Luna’s shipped skills cover email, calendars, meetings, CRM, community, lifecycle follow-up, cold outreach, reporting, operations, automations and conversion audits. The supported client setup can also include your phone and SMS presence. We adapt those methods to your launch and connect the accounts they need; the playbooks do not magically supply your missing business information or permissions.

The value is a prepared starting point and people responsible for fitting it to your work. You keep the decisions that need you while the operator owns the configured jobs.

## Choose intelligence by task, not just by subscription

The Dots core agent is powered by OpenAI, with connected tools and delegated work. Luna can use supported models from different providers and match them to individual jobs. A routine classification and a difficult strategy document do not need the same model budget.

We can use a lighter model where it meets the job’s quality bar and a stronger model where the work needs it. Supported client AI plans and API keys can provide usage, subject to their own limits and charges. This offers a way to manage model costs alongside the service, rather than a promise of free or unlimited AI.

You can keep using ChatGPT. Choosing Luna does not require leaving the tools that help you think or prepare work.

## Your business connections have a builder

Plugins are a real strength of the ChatGPT environment. With Luna, our team also helps build the workflow around the connection. Her app directory, dedicated integrations, APIs, MCP, webhooks, existing automations and browser work provide several routes into supported systems.

Bring the job, including the unusual system you already use. We verify the available access, build the supported path and test where the result lands. You are buying the people and the process around that connection, along with the agent.

## Dots already have continuity

[OpenAI’s Dots documentation](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/dots) describes a persistent cloud agent with a computer and browser, memory and background work. You can reach the same dot through ChatGPT, Slack, Teams and calls. Access is rolling out to eligible accounts with plan and regional requirements.

It would be inaccurate to say that Dots can only answer prompts, have no memory or cannot work while you are away.

The [controls documentation](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/dots/controls) also describes automatic action review, app permissions and optional custom rules. A clear instruction can authorize future actions within its scope. Proactive connected research is read-only; follow-up actions have their own permission requirements.

## Personal context and business knowledge have different jobs

An agent that understands your preferences can be useful immediately. It might know how you like updates written, what projects matter and where a draft belongs.

A business operator also needs the information that makes a customer interaction correct: the current offer, what you promised, who owns the decision, which refund policy applies and what should happen when the answer is missing.

Those needs can overlap. The question is how you supply, organize and maintain that context for the jobs you intend to delegate.

With Luna, we work with you on the business knowledge and the workflow together. We design the operator around your offers, customers, team and existing tools, then help refine that setup as the work changes.

## A launch makes the distinction concrete

Consider a course launch. You need research, a launch brief, email drafts, answers to customer questions, meeting notes and a clear record of what still needs a decision.

Start by writing down the outcomes. Where is the approved offer? Which dates are final? Who may change the copy? Which questions need you? Where should the operator record a promise made on a call?

Then separate preparation from execution. A draft ready to review is one result. A message sent to the right people under the right authority is another. A launch report should distinguish them.

You can use that brief to evaluate Dots. You can also bring it to us for a Luna design conversation. The difference we offer is a human team to help turn the brief into a tested operating process, rather than leaving all of that responsibility with you.

## The human conversation is part of the build

Tell us what you want the operator to do and what you want to keep doing yourself. We help clarify the process, design the identity and voice, connect the systems and test the work with you.

That can include deciding how the operator addresses customers, how she handles incomplete information and which updates belong in which channel. A brand voice is useful, but so is knowing when to stop composing and ask the person with the answer.

After launch, we manage the operator with you. If your offer changes or a new workflow becomes important, there is a human conversation available about how the operator should change.

This is the same idea behind our earlier [build-it-or-have-it-built guide](/blog/best-ai-voice-agent-platforms-comparison-2026), applied to an agent that works across the business. The technology matters, and so does who owns the implementation.

## ChatGPT and Luna can work together

You do not have to stop using ChatGPT to use Luna. It can remain a place to think, research and prepare work. Luna can carry configured responsibilities inside the business.

Luna also has a supported [brain connection for MCP clients](/luna#capability-history). That does not mean every ChatGPT conversation automatically reaches her memory. It means context can be connected through the supported setup, with the relevant access and scope.

Choose the responsibilities you want each system to own. Two agents watching the same inbox without clear ownership can create duplicate work; two agents with defined jobs can be useful together.

## What to ask before choosing

Ask who will maintain the business knowledge, connect the systems and test the recurring work. Ask what the agent can do today in your account, which actions need permission and how you will know a task finished.

If you want to direct a persistent agent from your existing ChatGPT environment, evaluate Dots with those questions. If you want people to help design, build and manage an operator around your business, that is the conversation we offer with Luna.
